Life Transitions

Life is full of changes and transitions. Most often these can be navigated well or with minimal amounts of stress. But every now and then life throws us a curve ball and we find ourselves quite overwhelmed. Struggles can arise from life stage or role transitions such as: starting or graduating from college or grad school, changes in employment or relationship status or becoming a new parent or moving. Symptoms such as anxiety and depression can return if they’ve been present in the past or can be experienced for the first time. Big life transitions, by definition really, affect multiple areas of ones life making them fertile ground for stress and overwhelm. Often our normal resources for coping are compromised or non-existent making us more vulnerable. Therapy can provide a safe place to talk about all that’s going on and find ways to reestablish or develop healthy coping and support. If anxiety or depression are present therapy can address those issues and increase the ability to successfully navigate the transition.
